The Huanglong Sports Center, which has been located in downtown Hangzhou for 20 years, recently finished its two-year upgrading and reconstruction and is ready for the upcoming 19th Asian Games in September 2022, local media outlets reported.
The center, which has a stadium, an indoor gymnasium, and a natatorium, will host football, gymnastics (competitive gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline) and water polo competitions for the Asian Games and track and field competitions for the Asian Para Games.
To spruce up the south and north towers of the stadium with LED screens, which are expected to hold various light shows during the event in the near future, the stadium also features a one-kilometer intelligent skywalk that circles around it in the air and can provide fitness enthusiasts with real-time exercise analyses. Large LED screens are also installed at the gymnasium.
Supporting facilities were another highlight of the upgrade, including 12 new baby toilets and nursery rooms, 48 new energy vehicle charging piles, barrier-free facilities, as well as a lawn at the east square of the center designed for outdoor exercise and recreation for children.
