As Hangzhou attracts increasing numbers of international tourists, the city has released the English version of its official song, Dream Heaven, which is intended to convey the city's welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Originally created in 2016, the song was performed during the G20 Hangzhou Summit, and it formally debuted in English at the 2024 Hangzhou Metropolitan Area Inbound Tourism Promotion Conference.
At the event, the Gaelle Wondje Quartet from Cameroon, along with Professor Guo Yihong from the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, gave a live performance of the song. This heartfelt rendition was witnessed by international travel delegates from Europe and Southeast Asia.
Lyricist Ying Hao envisioned the song's rhythm as a bossa nova tune, inspired by the peaceful ambiance of West Lake and Beishan Road. The English lyrics reflect Hangzhou's scenic beauty and harmonious lifestyle, inviting travelers to experience this "Heaven on Earth" firsthand.
