Hangzhou will host an electrifying blend of electronic music and traditional culture at the Hangzhou Electronic Music Festival on Nov 16-17, set to take place at the Hangzhou Steelworks Park along the Grand Canal.

The theme of this year's festival, Cyber Jiangnan, brings together the city's industrial heritage and cyberpunk vibes with live performances from international DJs, electronic musicians, and collaborations showing city and opera culture.

A highlight will be the fusion of Yueju Opera with electronic music, featuring Li Xiaowen, a national-level Yueju Opera artist, performing Remembering Jiangnan. The crossover aims to reflect Hangzhou's dual spirit of elegance and ambition. "Hangzhou embraces both traditional culture and a spirit of bold innovation," Li said.

Starting in Hangzhou, festival organizers envision expanding to other cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Hangzhou's openness to cultural fusion has provided fertile ground for such events, positioning this electronic festival as a novel approach to the city's cultural tourism.
