Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, issued an action plan to promote the building of an Asian Games city at a meeting revolving around preparations for the games on April 17.

Officials said that the plan will be carried out in three phases.

The first phase will be the pre-games preparation phase, which is dated from April 2020 to August 2022. During this period, the Hangzhou government will set up a coordination mechanism for relevant departments involved in planning the event.

The second phase is the games-in-progress phase, which is dated from September 2022 to October 2022. During this period, all preparations should be made to ensure a smooth opening for the Asian Games and the Asian Para games.

The third phase is the post-games phase, which starts after the games draw to an end. During this period, Hangzhou will make use of the games’ stadiums to hold more cultural and sporting events.

More details relating to the plans were also revealed at the meeting. For instance, it was announced that Hangzhou will hold more than 1,500 fitness events and provide fitness training services more than 1,000 times per year.

The city will also make stronger efforts to protect the environment, be more internationally-oriented, improve its basic infrastructure, make use of digital technology, and boost its industrial development.
