Pairs of self-driving vehicles in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province have been deployed to help prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 in the city, local media outlets reported.

Named Skywilling, the pair of vehicles consists of one that does patrolling and another that disinfects. They were put into use at a high-tech company incubation center in Qiantang district on Nov 28.

Both vehicles can be used in industrial parks. The self-driving patrolling vehicle is equipped with laser navigation, facial recognition, vehicle recognition, infrared monitoring, and a cloud platform for back-end monitoring, while the disinfection vehicle can store about 80 liters of disinfectant.

Given the current need for regular epidemic prevention and control measures, the use of such vehicles can reduce manpower requirements.
