The Zhejiang University in Hangzhou recently announced on its Sina Weibo account that gymnast Guan Chenchen has been recommended by the General Administration of Sports of China to be admitted to the university.

Zhejiang cemented its reputation as a hotbed of sporting talent at last summer's Tokyo Olympics, with athletes from the province returning home with 10 medals, including seven gold, for Team China.

Guan Chenchen, the 17-year-old gymnast who topped the podium in Tokyo by beating American megastar Simone Biles, was among the most impressive performers at the Games for China.

The teenager said she is now focusing on winning her next medal.

"After the Tokyo Olympics and the National Games a month later, I took a 10-day break back home. Now I have resumed my training and restored my physical strength, so my next goal is the Asian Games in Hangzhou," she said.
