An American expat surnamed Tanner has been teaching useful English expressions to prepare residents in Shiqiao subdistrict, Hangzhou who will be volunteering at the upcoming 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

In 2012, Tanner and his wife surnamed Zhu returned to China and established a language training school.

The couple later decided to offer free English training services to local community workers and children.

The textbook Tanner is using is the English handbook for the Games. The handbook, which was compiled by the local authorities of Shiqiao subdistrict, contains 100 commonly used English expressions.

Tanner uploaded the handbook's digital versions on the internet and also opened online courses to teach these expressions.
