More than 200 young players aged between eight and 12 competed at the Hangzhou International Youth Swimming Open Championship held at the Hangzhou Swimming Center on Nov 20, local media outlets reported.

The event was carried out in amateur and professional groups. The young foreigners were from international schools in Hangzhou.

In consideration of the COVID-19 prevention and control measures, only the athletes and judges were allowed to enter the natatorium. The parents and coaches can watch the children's performance through online live broadcast.

Swimming is a strong point of Zhejiang province. The swimmers in Hangzhou have good swimming foundation. This event offered an opportunity for children to do exercise and provide the reference for the selection of outstanding swimming athletes, which helps to build swimming into the golden card of Hangzhou Sports.
