The first youth field hockey challenge in Gongshu district was held at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium on May 7-8, local media outlets reported.

It was the first official competition to be held at the sports venue since its completion and attracted a total of 16 teams and 250 young players from Hangzhou, Shanghai, Changzhou, and other cities.

The competition consisted of two parts: challenges and matches. The challenges were focused on individual skills, while the matches were team-based. The tournament had two age categories: U10 and U12.

The stadium is also known as the "Hangzhou Umbrella" and is the field hockey venue for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.

Field hockey is a sport that combines speed, power, and teamwork. It features quick changes, delicate precision, and intense competition, which explains why it has become increasingly popular among young people in recent years.

"Field hockey requires precise shooting within a certain range, which I think demands higher technical skills and teamwork. I enjoy this kind of challenge and hope to become a professional player in the future," said Zhu Pinyi, a competitor. "I know that the field hockey competition for the Asian Games will also be held here. I am happy and honored to be able to enjoy this venue in advance."
