The inaugural 2023 Hangzhou (Tonglu) International Equestrian Open will be held from May 13-14 at the Hangzhou Tonglu Equestrian Center, local media outlets reported.

The horses for the competition have already arrived at the center, which is also the venue for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.

The participating horses were specially transported by charter flight from Maastricht Airport in the Netherlands, arriving at Hangzhou Airport on April 9.

In accordance with the relevant national epidemic prevention requirements, the horses went through a fast and secure biosecurity passage and were swiftly transported by a professional horse transportation fleet. After a safe 110-kilometer journey, they arrived at the newly-established Tonglu Xinhe Import Animal Quarantine Facility.

As of May 9, the horses have completed the one-month customs supervision and quarantine period, and on the evening of May 9, they were loaded onto trucks and transported to the Tonglu Equestrian Center. In the following days, they will undergo training with their riders and prepare for the competition through preliminary horse inspections, draw lots, and other necessary preparations.

The basic setup of the venue has been completed, and final preparations are being made for the open competition.
