A total of 22 students and teachers from Canada arrived at the Lanli Research Camp in Xihu district, Hangzhou on March 10 for an exchange program in which they will delve into Chinese cultural traditions.

Coinciding with the upcoming Tree Planting Day, the Canadian delegation planted saplings to welcome the arrival of spring.

Accompanied by the tunes of traditional Chinese musical instruments like the guqin and pipa, the group learned the art of tea-making, savoring the aroma and essence of Chinese tea culture. They also crafted and tasted Dingsheng cakes, a specialty snack famous in Jiangnan, referring to the regions south of the Yangtze River.

The research-oriented activity was organized by the Ministry of Education's Center for Language Education and Cooperation, hosted by Hangzhou Normal University, and co-sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial Youth Sports Federation. It is intended to deepen China-Canada friendship by providing overseas students with immersive experiences related to Chinese traditional cuisine and craftsmanship.

According to Zou Xiaona, director of the Lanli Research Camp, they will continue to promote the development of joint programs between overseas and domestic schools, strengthening cultural exchange and attracting more international students.
