Night schools are gradually taking hold among young people in Hangzhou.

On the evening of March 11, the first class of the spring session commenced at the Zhejiang Cultural Center with a course on suona, a traditional Chinese wind instrument. The instructor was Xue Tianlong, a suona player from the Zhejiang National Orchestra and a producer of contemporary Chinese music.

"I heard nearly 500 people signed up, which really surprised me," Xue said.

On the evening of March 12, the China Academy of Art Night School kicked off its class on light sculpture and composite material creation. The course was co-taught by Yan Rui, a teacher at the Continuing Education College of China Academy of Art, and Li Shanshan, a graduate of the academy's visual communication program.
