As spring unfolds, the Hangzhou sports bureau has recommended three routes to local residents for outdoor activities amid the lovely spring weather and stunning landscapes.

Route 1: Classic West Lake Loop

West Lake is an iconic sight in Hangzhou with pagodas, gardens, islands and bridges. The loop around the lake is considered a classic running route for running enthusiasts. It passes through most of the 10 scenic spots around West Lake, offering fresh air and pleasant views.

The total length of the route is approximately 12 kilometers. The terrain is generally flat, making it very suitable for beginners.

Route 2: Binjiang Cherry Blossom Running Path

Along the Qiantang River, there is a 17.4-km running path that not only attracts fitness enthusiasts but also draws numerous visitors in spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. This path has become a significant part of the city's landscape and culture, having hosted the Hangzhou International Marathon and Zhejiang Marathon in recent years.

During spring, it is a great place for people to bask in the gentle sunlight, breathe in the fragrant scent of cherry blossoms and run alongside the bustling urban scenery and majestic waves of the Qiantang River.

Route 3: Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Riverside

Hangzhou boasts many scenic spots, but the most distinctive is undoubtedly the area along the Grand Canal.

Starting from Wulin Gate and stretching north along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, runners pass through the historical and cultural area of Dadou Road, which preserves a large number of ancient residential buildings.
