Phase one of the Hangzhou Convention and Exhibition Center was inspected and approved by all parties on April 30.

This signifies the unveiling of Zhejiang's largest convention and exhibition complex, which will host a test exhibition in July.

Aerial views of the completed center resemble a sail, and a central corridor spanning over 500 meters in length and 18 meters in width serves as the "mast", connecting exhibition halls 1 to 8.

The center has received a total investment of about 20 billion yuan ($2.77 billion) and is being built in two phases. Phase One features an indoor exhibition area of 155,000 square meters, equivalent to 22 football fields, and will accommodate various functions in the future, including exhibitions, conferences, commerce, offices, and hotels.

The Global Digital Trade Expo is currently China's only national exhibition focusing on digital trade and targeting international spectators. In September this year, the center will host the third edition of the expo.

"We are accelerating the improvement of supporting facilities and the surrounding environment," said Li Jianhong, an official from the Hangzhou Aviation Economic Demonstration Zone. "Efforts are currently underway to develop supporting hotel complexes, talent public transport complexes, and environmental enhancements, with 10 test exhibition projects already signed."

"The Hangzhou Aviation Economic Demonstration Zone will further focus on building a modern air-based industry system, with emphasis on creating multiple specialized industry platforms such as the aviation headquarters area, free trade logistics port, biotech valley, and intelligent manufacturing park," said Zhu Dangqi, head of the demonstration zone's administration committee.
