Amidst the festivities surrounding China's annual Cultural Heritage Day, which falls on June 8 this year, celebrations kicked off in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on June 1.

Zhejiang has made significant strides in promoting cultural relics in recent years, including the establishment of 776 rural museums, winning national recognition for its museum exhibitions, pioneering archaeological surveys during land reservations, and forming 169 volunteer teams with over 12,000 volunteers.

This year's festivities were timed to coincide with Children's Day, with the goal of instilling a sense of the importance of heritage preservation among youth. Organizers hope to foster a lifelong commitment to protecting and preserving China's rich cultural heritage.

To further educate young people about archaeological relics, the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology presented a set of books titled "Zhejiang Archaeology and Chinese Civilization" to schoolchildren. This comprehensive series, compiled by experts from various institutions, highlights Zhejiang's contributions to the development of Chinese civilization through 80 years of archaeological research.

Around China Cultural Heritage Day, Zhejiang will host 456 cultural and heritage-related events, including 322 activities closely aligned with the theme of "Protecting Cultural Relics and Inheriting Civilization" and 299 cultural relic-oriented public services.

Ningbo's Haishu district, the host venue of the launch ceremony, will launch a series of urban cultural relic and lifestyle week activities, providing the public with a diverse array of enriching cultural relic and lifestyle experiences.
