Hangzhou will soon have a new landmark, as construction on the Tangqi water passenger transport center project has commenced. It will connect the Grand Canal, Tangqi ancient town, Dingshan Lake, and Chaoshan Mountain, serving as a catalyst for development in Hangzhou's northern region.

The center is located at the fork of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Tangqi ancient town, with a total area of 12,711 square meters and a building area of 1,640 square meters. The project includes a shoreline arrangement with six 30-meter berths for tourist boats.

The center will feature a boat dock, service hall, waiting hall, office building, and parking lot. The dock will span a length of 241 meters along the shore.

Tangqi, the southern terminus of the Grand Canal, has historically been the starting point for Hangzhou's grain transport and is now a core part of the Linping section of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park.

The Grand Canal (Linping section) Tangqi-Dingshan-Chaoshan water tour route was recently announced. This 15.8-kilometer route connects the ancient town of Tangqi, Dingshan Lake Tourist Area, and Chaoshan Scenic Tourist Area, with 5.3 km through the ancient town and 10.5 km from Caizi River to the Chaoshan. It is expected to open in October.
