On the evening of Sept 3, 42-year-old Xue Enhui from Hangzhou's Qiantang district secured a bronze medal in the women's F11 discus event at the Paris Paralympics with a remarkable throw of 37.67 meters. This was Xue's first-ever Paralympic appearance.

Xue, a visually impaired athlete originally from Harbin, began her athletic journey in 2003 after working as a community disability worker. Despite facing severe challenges, including difficulty with balance and learning the technical precision required for discus throwing, she persevered. It took her four years to master the spinning technique, and her early training was filled with physical pain and setbacks. Her first competitive throw was only 14 meters.

Xue moved to Hangzhou's Xiasha area in 2009 and has since developed a strong bond with the city. In last year's Hangzhou Asian Para Games, she claimed a silver and a bronze medal. Xue's determination remains strong, as she said: "My biggest motivation is to stand on the top of the podium. As long as my body allows it, I will keep training and competing."
