Hangzhou welcomed the first international delegation to participate in the third Global Digital Trade Expo on the morning of Sept 24.

The delegation from Indonesia, consisting of 16 representatives, arrived at Hangzhou International Airport and was quickly processed by the Hangzhou immigration bureau, which issued them port visas. Oke Irwan, one of the delegates, praised the seamless process, saying, "This is my first time attending GDTE, and the entry process was excellent."

As the host city, Hangzhou is ensuring a smooth experience for international participants. Special visa services are being provided at the airport, along with increased police presence and expanded border control channels. Separate lanes have been designated for VIP and regular attendees, ensuring quick and efficient customs clearance for international guests.

James Reginald Colimon, deputy director of global affairs and protocol for the city of Boston, also praised Hangzhou's visa services, stating, "As sister cities, it's wonderful to see that Hangzhou has provided such convenient visa and customs services for attendees. It's very efficient." He emphasized how the measures promote international exchange and showcase Hangzhou's openness and hospitality.

Since September 2023, Hangzhou has been refining its visa application and management system, enabling seamless online visa applications. This streamlined process allows companies to invite foreign guests more efficiently. In 2024 alone, the system has facilitated the entry of 80 foreign personnel for several enterprises, generating over 1.4 billion yuan ($199.36 million) in import and export transactions.
