Documents from the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) recorded that Xiangfu Bridge was first located in Yuhang's Diaolu township. The existing structure was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and rebuilt in 1543. In March 2023, it was designated a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level.

Historically, the area around Xiangfu Bridge, centered on the Huantang River, was a bustling northern gateway to Hangzhou, thriving due to its developed waterways. However, by the 1990s, urban development led to the decline of the old streets by the bridge. In 2016, a renewal of the area began.

Today, the rejuvenated Xiangfu Bridge Traditional Cultural Block, enclosed by Moganshan Road, Daji Road, Sandun Road, and Xiangfu Road, boasts a variety of businesses and a rich cultural atmosphere. It has emerged as a new cultural and tourism landmark of Gongshu district.
