Gongchen Bridge, the highest and longest stone arch bridge among Hangzhou's ancient bridges, is a landmark at the southern end of the Grand Canal.

Historically, Gongshu district flourished both economically and culturally due to the influence of the Grand Canal. The district's name is derived from Gongchen Bridge and the Hushu area, highlighting the bridge's significance.

Since the inscription of the Grand Canal as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gongchen Bridge has drawn increasing numbers of visitors over the past decade, inviting them to experience the vibrant and picturesque Gongshu.
